COVID KILOS GOT YOU FEELING OUT OF CONTROL

Hands up if you’ve gained a few or more than a few COVID kilos?

I have, so I’ll go first; almost a full dress size and 4-6 kg.

Bra straps cut, creating bulging, waistbands pinch, legs feel like a squeezed sausage, clothes don’t hang right, and I can no longer move with ease, due to constricting fabric and fastenings.

Not a comfortable state right?

Gyms have been closed.. working out at home doesn’t suit everyone, and it’s cold, and we sorta have other things going on hey?

We ate food that comforted us. Why?…… Because we needed comfort.

So you may not be crowned the COVID-19 online workout winner……. big deal, and don’t stress… and who cares…….

The great news is, there are things we can do right to feel better and feel more confident in our bodies as they are now.

Winter weight on its own often requires a slightly different size from a summer wardrobe, but with COVID, the indoors have been our thing, and that has led to many guys and girls carrying a few extra.

Even if you vow to lose a few kilos, on the way to that goal, this is my advice. It’s how I advise my clients and what I practice myself.

DON’T

♦️Panic. You are human. Weight gain or loss happens to most people at different times in their lives.

♦️Squeeze or force yourself into clothes that are uncomfortable… that’s unkind

♦️Guilt or body shame yourself over the weight gain…this never helped one of my clients lose weight

♦️Compare yourself to others… its a no-win game

DO

🔹Purchase a few intermittent essentials, such as a pair of jeans, pants, a shirt, and a more comfy bra that doesn’t cut or bulge

🔹Use the opportunity to experiment with new styles, shapes & colors.

🔹Learn how to illusion dress. Lose a virtual dress size or more by understanding body shape principles

🔹Congratulate yourself for being kind to ‘YOU’

🔹Don’t waste time thinking about the fact that your clothes don’t fit. Buy the new items as soon as you can

🔹 Consider the item’s essential, because they are

We all have to wear clothes, and we all need to be comfortable and feel confident. It’s not a luxury, it is a right.

🔹Enjoy your new purchases

I’ll leave you with this thought. When you feel good, you are more likely to start losing weight, but whether you do or don’t drop the kilos in record time…….

Follow these do’s and don’ts.

Before I was a stylist, I used to get massive anxiety from weight gain. Now, I don’t let it stress me. I know I will go up and down, and my body does its own thing sometimes, and occasionally we take our eye off the ball and kilo’s pile on.

Love yourself more, and give yourself a confidence boost returning to your less restricted world, in less restricted clothes.
